Using the Interagency Mitigation Guidance to Review Mitigation Plans

(Formerly called "Reviewing Wetland Mitigation and Monitoring Plans".)

This one-day class is geared towards those who review and approve mitigation plans. The training is based on the 2006 interagency document, "Wetland Mitigation in Washington State," Parts 1 and 2, which identifies what should be addressed in mitigation proposals and plans that are submitted to the Department of Ecology, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, and some local jurisdications.

This class provides an overview of what is in the mitigation guidance, some of the agencies' policies on mitigation, and what should be addressed in a mitigation plan. Topics include:  site selection, types of mitigation and approaches, mitigation ratios, buffers, performance standards, and more. A class exercise allows class participants to practice reviewing a mitigation plan using the checklists in the guidance.

This course does NOT provide technical specifications for how to design or condition mitigation projects.

Lunch is provided.
