Jeff Gaeckle works as a Seagrass Ecologist for the WA State Department of Natural Resources. His graduate research focused on eelgrass (Zostera marina) restoration ecology using the Transplanting Eelgrass Remotely with Frames Systems (TERFS) method. He also investigated the accuracy of eelgrass leaf growth methods and tested whether eelgrass sheath length can be used to predict leaf growth. During his graduate career, Jeff worked on numerous eelgrass restoration and monitoring projects throughout the northeastern US. Most recently, as a research associate for a global seagrass monitoring project, SeagrassNet, Jeff traveled the world monitoring seagrass distribution and status. Jeff joined the Department of Natural Resources in February 2006 to oversee the Submerged Vegetation Monitoring Project.
