Dr. Hruby is the senior ecologist for the Shorelands and Environmental Assistance Program at the Washington State Department of Ecology, specializing in aquatic and coastal ecosystems. Although currently working mostly within the state of Washington, he has pertinent experience in Europe, Asia, and North America. He has studied the impacts of sewage and toxic chemicals on coastal, freshwater, and wetland ecosystems, and he has developed models to assess the functions and values of wetlands. Over the last 14 years Tom Hruby has developed 13 different methods for analyzing the functions that wetlands perform. Dr. Hruby has over 25 papers published in peer reviewed scientific journals on environmental research and assessment methods.
